MDF Executive Director Meets Gensler Representatives

Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund (MDF) - Giorgi Shonia, met with Robert Jaekel - Studio Director of one of the largest and most innovative architectural companies across the world - Gensler, Nadia Volchansky, Design Manager of the same company, and Aleksandre Katsitadze, one of the founders of the Company Demark.

The participants discussed the design process for Kutaisi Multifunctional Sports Palace.

The American Company Gensler, founded in 1965, is implementing the first project in Georgia – Kutaisi Sports Palace – in collaboration with the Georgian Company Demark.

The philosophy of Gensler is based on a people-oriented approach, sustainable development, and technological innovations. The projects of the company, including the Moody Center Basketball and Events Area (USA), the YOFC Headquarters (China), and the Abode Founders Tower (USA) are recognized as symbols of modern architecture.

The design of Kutaisi Sports Palace is at its final stage. The active involvement of an American company in preparation of the design documents will ensure that the multifunctional sports infrastructure will be constructed in full compliance with international standards.

As per the project, at a modern Sports Palace with a capacity of 5000 spectators, will be arranged the main and backup halls, a training area, a swimming pool, and rooms for referees and anti-doping procedures.

In addition to that, the complex will include a conference room, a press center, rooms for international delegations, a sports store, and a cafeteria.

A 350-space parking lot, recreational areas, roads, and pedestrian walkways will also be constructed there.

The Kutaisi Sports Palace will be fully accessible to people with disabilities.

The project will significantly enhance the capacity of the city to host international-level sports, cultural, and entertainment events, which will contribute to the development of tourism and the strengthening of the local economy.
