Modular Temporary School Infrastructure Planned Across Georgia

The Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Infrastructure plans to establish modular temporary school infrastructure across Georgia. The Fund has already announced a tender for the procurement of the modular units.

The decision to procure modular temporary school infrastructure was made jointly by the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Education. The initiative aims to provide students with safe, fully equipped and suitable temporary learning spaces during the construction of new schools and the rehabilitation of existing ones. This will help ensure that the educational process is not disrupted by construction works and minimise the need to relocate students to other schools.

Modular schools will consist of factory-manufactured, fully equipped and transportable learning units that can be assembled on site within a short period of time. They are intended for use at schools where temporary learning facilities are required during the construction of a new school building or the rehabilitation of an existing one.

The modular schools will allow students to continue their education temporarily on or near their school premises in a safe and fully equipped environment. This approach will reduce the need to transfer students to other schools and provide daily transportation, while helping to ensure the continuity of the learning process.
The project provides for the procurement of ready-to-use school modules and their installation on site, according to specific needs. Where necessary, the required external engineering infrastructure will also be arranged at the selected locations.

The project envisages procurement of up to 750 modules of several different types, including:
600 classroom modules;
100 administrative modules;
50 sanitary unit modules.
Each classroom module is to accommodate 10–12 students and one teacher. The administrative modules will provide working spaces for school administration staff, school resource officers and medical personnel, as well as utility rooms and the necessary sanitary facilities.
The modules can be interconnected to create integrated school facilities of different sizes and layouts, depending on specific requirements. Where necessary, they may also be arranged in different configurations and developed as two-storey structures.
