A Tender Announced for Construction-Rehabilitation of Tourism and Urban Infrastructure in Bolnisi

The tender, announced by the Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Ministry of Infrastructure, includes the procurement of design services, as well as of construction-rehabilitation works.
Within Bolnisi Tourism and Urban Infrastructure Development Project, the historic German settlement area, cultural heritage sites, and the central park are to undergo the rehabilitation.

The existing buildings, streets, and pedestrian infrastructure of the historic district, as well as the utility networks, outdoor lighting, and public spaces are to be upgraded within the project.

The central park will feature sports, recreational, and cultural areas, playgrounds for children, bike lanes and walking paths; the April 9 Memorial will be upgraded as well.

The development of the park and the historic district also includes the installation of outdoor lighting, informational signs, water features, fountains, irrigation systems, and modern security ones.

The project provides for the upgrade of water supply, sewer, drainage, and power networks too.
Special attention will be paid to the development of cultural tourism. The archaeological sites, medieval Georgian architecture, and German settlements are to be combined into a single tourist route, which will make Bolnisi even more attractive destination for both local and foreign visitors.

Moreover, the project envisages the development of wine tourism direction. The functional restoration of historic German wine cellars and their integration with centuries-old winemaking tranditions of Bolnisi will contribute to the diversity of tourism offerings of the region, and expand its economic opportunities.
As a result of this large-scale rehabilitation, new public and recreational spaces will be created in Bolnisi Town, its tourism potential will increase, and the unique historical and cultural identity of the town will be showcased.
