A new building for historic Public School to be constructed in Village Sno

Minister of Infrastructure - Revaz Sokhadze, together with the Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund (MDF) - Giorgi Shonia, Member of Parliament of Georgia – Aluda Ghudushauri, and representatives of local authorities, met with teachers and parents of students of Public School of Village Sno.
The meeting focused on the current state of the school, and the issues related to the construction of the new school building.
The historic public school, located in Village Sno of Kazbegi Municipality, has served many generations since 1903. His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, attended this school. For over a century, the school in Sno has been not only an educational institution of the village, but also an important historical and community space.
Based on a study of process of rehabilitation of the school and the conclusion of Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau, it was determined that the existing building does not meet modern safety standards, and its continued operation and maintenance are technically impossible. Respectively, a decision was made to construct a new school building on the site of the existing one that is to meet modern standards. In the course of construction, materials from the existing building will be reused as much as possible so as to preserve the historical appearance, authenticity, and centuries-old traditions of the school.
The new school will fully meet safety requirements and the needs of a modern educational environment. In addition, the historical connection linking Sno School to the village, its generations, and Ilia II – Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, will be preserved.
As a result of the project implementation, historic Sno School will continue its centuries-old educational tradition in a new, safe, and modern setting.
