The Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Ministry of Infrastructure is to begin the design of historic recreational space of Rustavi City.
MDF has signed a contract with the competition winner company. The design process will be carried out in three stages, out of which the main design work will be executed during the Stages I and II, whereas the Stage III will involve design supervision in the course of construction.
The Rustavi Central Park Project is to include the areas for children and sports, a basketball court, an upgraded skate park, waterfront infrastructure, and recreational areas.

Venues for festivals are to be preserved and improved; the amphitheater is to be rehabilitated, a network of bike lanes, running, and walking paths are to be arranged, the bridges across the lake and to the island, additional transportation links are to be created, and a new pier next to the rowing school is to be built.

Moreover, the upgraded park should include cultural and educational spaces, such as open-air stages, pavilions, and event venues. Special attention will be given to integrating the Rustavi Fortress with the recreational area and showcasing the archaeological site. Furthermore, the upgrade of Rustavi Central Park must take into account the preservation and presentation of its unique historical and cultural identity.

As per the project, security, lighting, irrigation, and drainage systems must also be upgraded. The project provides for separate waste collection, the use of renewable energy sources, the incorporation of environmentally friendly materials, and the planting of native plant species throughout the park.
