MDF OF THE MINISTRY OF INFRASTRUCTURE TERMINATES THE CONTRACT FOR DESIGN OF “GURJAANI” MULTIFUNCTIONAL COMPLEX

The design services for the project were being provided by competition winner architectural bureau “Mektrik”. Despite numerous working meetings, verbal and written warnings from MDF, the company failed to achieve the required progress and results, prompting MDF to terminate the contract.
Given the importance of the project and the need for its timely implementation, MDF decided to award a contract for design services - without holding a new competition – to a company that is currently implementing a similar type of multifunctional complex design. The contract signed between MDF and the aforementioned company provides for the preparation of one main and five additional design solutions, adapted to the specific sites. This decision ensures the continuity of the design process, adherence to high quality standards, and the prompt continuation of work.
As per design documents, a multifunctional complex for 1,000 spectators is to be constructed in Gurjaani City that will include a large pool and a one for children, areas for sports and fitness, as well as halls for various sports. The complex will also include a media library, areas for dance, art, folklore, and foreign languages, a STEM club, a small performance hall, a multipurpose event space, and administrative and technical areas.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and MDF pay significant attention to the governmental projects to be implemented on timely and high-qualitative manner. Adherence to deadlines and contractual terms for each project is a fundamental requirement, and the Ministry expects all partners to meet that standard.
MDF will continue to use all the mechanisms provided for by the contract and legislation to ensure that the projects are implemented in a high-quality, responsible manner to fully meet its obligations to citizens.
