FIVE STADIUMS UPGRADED FOR THE 2026 WORLD RUGBY U20 CHAMPIONSHIP

The Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Infrastructure has successfully completed the upgrade of five stadiums in preparation for the 2026 World Rugby U20 Championship.

The works were carried out at the Avchala Rugby Stadium and the Shevardeni Rugby Complex in Tbilisi, as well as at three stadiums within the AIA Rugby Complex in Kutaisi.

All five pitches have been equipped with high-quality hybrid turf that meets international standards. The project also included the rehabilitation of spectator stands and supporting infrastructure at the Avchala and Kutaisi venues. In addition, a modern floodlighting system was installed at the AIA Rugby Complex.

The newly installed hybrid playing surfaces are designed to provide enhanced durability and maintain a high-quality playing environment even under intensive use.
