LARGE-SCALE URBAN DEVELOPMENT AND RECREATIONAL PROJECTS IN KUTAISI UNDER ACTIVE PHASE OF IMPLEMENTATION

Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Ministry of Infrastructure Giorgi Shonia, together with Kutaisi Mayor Davit Eremeishvili, visited the sites of large-scale infrastructural projects in Kutaisi.
With financial support from the Government of Georgia (GOG), the Students-Youth Park is being rehabilitated and a new boulevard on Abashidze Str. in Kutaisi is being arranged as per the schedule. Moreover, the arrangement of a modern, 70-hectare multifunctional park on the site, adjacent to the former Parliament building, is curently at the design stage.
The rehabilitation of the Students-Youth Park envisages comprehensive landscaping of the area, the arrangement of pedestrian paths and bicycle lanes, the planting of new green spaces, the installation of small architectural features, and the upgrading of the lighting system. The project will provide for the arrangement of areas for children and sports zones, picnic sites, an amphitheater, and water features. The upgraded infrastructure will be fully adapted to the needs of people with disabilities and parents with children on strollers.
The new boulevard on Abashidze Str. will be developed as a modern urban space. It will feature recreational areas, green spaces, and infrastructure, designed to serve the public. The project will significantly improve the urban environment, and add another attractive public space to Kutaisi.
The planned multifuncional park in near former Parliament building will be developed as an environmentally sustainable and multifunctional recreational space. The project will be fully adapted for all the users, including people with special needs.
The implementation of these projects will promote a healthy lifestyle, develop recreational infrastructure of Kutaisi City, boost its tourism potential, and strenghten the local economy.
