GIORGI SHONIA MEETS KFW REPRESENTATIVES

Giorgi Shonia, Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Ministry of Infrastructure, met with the representatives of German Bank for Reconstruction and Development (KfW).

The parties discussed current and planned infrastructural projects, assessed the stages of implementation of those projects, and discussed new initiatives and opportunities for future cooperation.

With the support of the German Bank for Reconstruction and Development (KfW), the MDF at first stage is to commence a program to construct-rehabilitate 10 public schools across the country. Within that program, design documentation for 8 schools is already at finalization stage, after which the tender procedures will begin.

Kvemo Alvani Public School, Akhmeta Public School N1, Sagarejo Public School N1, Gurjaani Public School N2, and Public Schools N1 & N2 of Dmanisi, as well as Rustavi Public Schools N11 and N23 will undergo the rehabilitation within that project.
The goal of the program is to create a safe and comfortable learning environment of modern standards that will significantly improve educational infrastructure and access to education in various regions of the country.
