REHABILITATION OF ALL FIVE STADIUMS FOR THE WORLD RUGBY U20 CHAMPIONSHIP IN ACTIVE PHASE

The Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Georgia continues to actively advance the development of rugby infrastructure across the country in preparation for the World Rugby U20 Championship.

Rehabilitation works are underway on five rugby stadiums in Tbilisi and Kutaisi as part of the championship hosting preparations. Construction activities are currently in an active phase at the Avchala and Shevardeni stadiums in Tbilisi, as well as at the three stadiums within the Aia Rugby Complex in Kutaisi.

Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia Giorgi Shonia and Deputy Executive Director Shota Andriadze visited the ongoing works at the Shevardeni Stadium and reviewed the progress of the project on site.
Construction works at all five stadiums are being carried out around the clock to ensure the timely completion of the infrastructure projects and to prepare the venues in full compliance with international standards ahead of the championship.

The projects provide for the rehabilitation of administrative buildings, spectator stands, locker rooms, sanitary facilities, façades, and lighting systems, as well as the improvement of external and supporting infrastructure.

The stadiums will be equipped with top-quality hybrid turf fully compliant with international standards, ensuring the durability of the playing fields and providing a high-quality playing environment even under intensive use conditions.
The upgraded infrastructure will enable Georgia to host international-level rugby events in a safe and comfortable environment for athletes, supporters, and spectators alike.
