A DESIGN COMPETITION ANNOUNCED FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AKHTALA PARK IN GURJAANI

The competition, launched by the Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Infrastructure, aims to create a modern environment that is harmoniously integrated with nature within a park known for its balneological properties.

The design documentation will include functional zoning of the Akhtala Park area, as well as the planning of children’s, sports, and cultural-educational spaces. It will also provide for the development of recreational areas, along with a network of pedestrian and cycling paths.

According to the project brief, the park will feature an information center, cultural and educational spaces — including an open-air stage, an event plaza, and multifunctional pavilions. Arrangement of landscape elements and fountains is also planned.

Special emphasis in the design process will be placed on environmental sustainability, including the use of native plant species, waste separation systems, and eco-friendly materials.
