A meeting held with the teachers and parents of Public School No. 14.

Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Mzia Giorgibiani, Deputy Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund Kvara Chartolani, and the Gamgebeli of the Nadzaladevi District Iraki Andghuladze met with the teachers of Tbilisi Public School No. 14 and with the parents of the named school students. The primary purpose of the meeting was to discuss the challenges facing the school and to determine possible solutions.

The Deputy Director of the Municipal Development Fund presented updated information in detail regarding the school’s design and construction process and noted that the agency is actively continuing efforts to overcome the existing problems, including actions at the legislative level.

"The Fund will make every possible effort to ensure that, in the best interest of pupils, construction of Tbilisi Public School No. 14 begins promptly. Work on the school's design will be completed in May of current year, after which a construction tender will be announced," stated Kvara Chartolani.

Based on the findings of the Levan Samkharauli National Bureau of Forensics, the building of Tbilisi Public School No. 14 will be completely demolished and a new school erected in its place. The pupils of Public School No. 14 have been temporarily reassigned to Public School No. 154.

It should also be noted that over the years 35 families have been living in part of the school building on Gogoberidze Street, of whom 18 hold internally displaced persons’ status. The Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health and Social Affairs has already provided housing to two families and is prepared to progressively accommodate the remaining 16 families. As for the non-displaced families, the district administration is prepared to provide them with rental assistance.

At the meeting it was emphasized that the Municipal Development Fund will provide the pupils’ parents and the school administration with additional information on the project progress gradually, in line with the process.  

The meeting was attended by Sakrebulo majoritarian deputy Shalva Maisuradze and the head of the Gldani–Nadzaladevi Resource Center, Irma Kikvadze.
