Meeting with Teachers and Parents of №209 Public School Students

Minister of Infrastructure of Georgia Revaz Sokhadze met with teachers and parents of №209 Public School students, and provided them with detailed information about the current situation and scheduled steps to be made with regard to the construction of a new school.
№209 Public School of Tbilisi, located in Gldani Village, was amortized. The project to build a new school to replace the old one, was tranferred to the Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Ministry of Infrastructure following the dissolution of LEPL Educational and Scientific Infrastructure Development Agency (ESIDA) of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth.
At present stage, construction work has not yet commenced, since there are still issues regarding the determination of the construction site. Once the aforementioned procedures are finalized, design-build work can begin.
The Minister answered the questions of teachers and parents, and noted that the timely commencement and high-qualitative implementation of the project is a priority for the Ministry.
“We are working as quickly as possible so as to overome the existing challenges, including bureaucratic barriers, and move the project into the active phase”, declared Revaz Sokhadze. The Minister also apologized to the attendees for the inconvenience occured, and underscored that educational infrastructure is one of the top priorities of the Ministry.
At the meeting was noted that the project implementation depends on the timely completion of current procedures, including at the design stage, although the agences are actively working on that process to be accelerated.
Based on the reached agreement, the Ministry of Infrastructure, MDF and the local self-governmental body will work in coordination to resolve the issue in a timely manner, and the students of №209 Public School to be enabled to study in a proper environment as soon as possible.
