Giorgi Shonia - Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia

Giorgi Shonia has extensive experience working in the public sector.

Before being appointed as the Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia, he held the position of Director of the United Water Supply Company of Georgia.

Until the end of June 2025, he held the position of Head of the Department for Coordination and Supervision of Infrastructure Projects at the Ministry of Infrastructure of Georgia. He also served as an advisor to the Minister at the same ministry.

From 2018 to May 2025, he worked at the Tbilisi City Assembly as the Head of the Secretariat of the Urban Planning and Municipal Economy Commission.

From 2015 to 2018, he held the position of Chief Specialist, First Category of the Third Rank, in the Department of Material and Technical Support of the Tbilisi City Assembly. He also worked as a leading specialist and acting official in the Legal Affairs Commission of the Assembly Office.

In 2014, he was a leading specialist in the Secretariat of the Local Self-Government Reforms Commission of the Tbilisi City Assembly Office.

From 2011 to 2013, he was the technical director and manager of the Service for Relations with Municipal Departments at “Ai Max+”.

Giorgi Shonia graduated from the Sukhumi Branch of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Faculty of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences, with a bachelor's degree in social sciences.

He is fluent in Georgian, English, and Russian.
