INTERIM RESULTS OF THE GANMUKHURI COASTAL DEVELOPMENT ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT REVIEWED AT THE MINISTRY OF INFRASTRUCTURE

The Ministry of Infrastructure of Georgia hosted a meeting to review the work completed under the first and second phases of the architectural development project for the Ganmukhuri coastal area.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze, Minister of Defence Irakli Chikovani, Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund Giorgi Shonia, State Representative of Samegrelo–Zemo Svaneti Davit Verava, Mayor of Zugdidi Municipality Davit Kodua, and representatives of other relevant government agencies.

Representatives of the architectural firm New Construction Capital, which is implementing the project, presented the work completed during the first and second phases, as well as the vision prepared for the next stage of development.

Ahead of the project's third phase, participants reviewed the completed work, the project's core concepts, and the planned directions for future development. According to the master plan, the Ganmukhuri coastline will be transformed into a multifunctional, year-round recreational destination. The project envisages creation of both tranquil green spaces for relaxation and modern infrastructure for active recreation and sports.
The master plan also envisages additional landscaping, construction of tennis and padel courts, a new marina, an administrative building, a greenhouse, an amphitheater, and a range of commercial facilities.

Particular attention during the review was given to the amphitheater development concept. Based on the findings of a technical assessment, experts have recommended reconstruction of part of the existing structure. Following this process, a new architectural design for the amphitheater will be developed. The project also envisages rehabilitation of spectator stands, integration of timber architectural elements, and additional landscaping throughout the area.

The meeting also focused on the sustainable development of the coastal zone, including shoreline protection measures and periodic beach nourishment to preserve the coastline. Participants further discussed the concept of a dedicated sports cluster, designed to enable the area to accommodate both everyday recreational and sporting activities, as well as cultural and sporting events of various scales.
