The Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Ministry of Infrastructure is carrying out preparatory work for the Rugby World Cup for Under-20s, scheduled for June-July 2026.

Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhade, Executive Director of MDF Giorgi Shonia, President of the Georgian Rugby Union Davit Kacharava, and Executive Director of the Rugby Union Vasil Abashidze visited the site of current works.

In the process of preparation for the World Cup, the Ministry of Infrastructure is rehabilitating three ruby sports complexes, covering a total of five rugby fields. Work is underway at Avchala and Shevardeni rugby complexes in Tbilisi, as well as at three stadiums of Aiya Complex in Kutaisi City.

High-quality hybrid turf has already been installed at all five stadiums, and maintenance work is underway. The hybrid turf meets international standards and ensures the durability of the fields and a high-quality playing environment even under heavy use.
