MINISTRY OF INFRASTRUCTURE HOLDING AN OPEN DAY FOR FORTHCOMING ARCHITECTURAL COMPETITIONS

The Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Ministry of Infrastructure proceeds with implementing significant infrastructural projects across the country.
Aimed at ensuring the high-qualitative implementation of the scheduled projects, as well as providing timely information to architects and design companies, and encouraging their active participation in the processes, the MDF held an Open Day.

In the course of the meeting, Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze and Executive Director of MDF Giorgi Shonia provided architects and representatives of interested companies with detailed information about the architectural competitions, planned to be implemented by MDF.
Within the Open Day, participants got familiarized in advance with procedural and technical details of the competitions, as well as with important conditions and requirements.

Particular attention was paid to the active involvement of field experts in preparation of competitions terms and design recommendations, as well as to the importance of ensuring the implementation of projects in a high-qualitative and timely manner.
In 2025-2026, the MDF announced more than 60 competitions. In the near future, the MDF is to announce over 30 competitions for sports, educational, tourism, arts, and cultural facilities, as well as for urban development sites.

Among the scheduled competitions are the development of architectural concepts for the construction-rehabilitation of various sites, including the rehabilitation of Boris Paitchadze National Stadium, Chiatura Football Stadium, the construction of Zestaponi Multifunctional Complex, the arrangement of Mghvimevi Monastery infrastructure, and the information center of Vashlovani National Park, rehabilitation of an art museum and various drama theaters, Komarov School residential campus, “Newport” District in Kutaisi, Batumi Boulevard, a German heritage site in Bolnisi, façade of “Magnolia” Residential Complex in Batumi, and other project sites.

To ensure the transparency and competitiveness of the process, the MDF is to gradually announce the market studies and competitions.
The goal of the Open Day is to make the procurement process as transparent, accessible, and competitive as possible for interested companies. In the future, the MDF will continue to collaborate with professional circles that will contribute to the development of a competitive environment, as well as to the qualitative planning and implementation of the infrastructure across the country.
