REHABILITATION OF KUTAISI “AIYA” AND TBILISI AVCHALA RUGBY STADIUMS IS TO COMMENCE

The Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Ministry of Infrastructure is to commence the rehabilitation-construction works of Kutaisi “Aiya” Stadium, “Avchala” rugby training center, and of associated administrative buildings, and outdoor infrastructure, located in Tbilisi.

The project aims at upgrading the rugby stadiums in accordance with international standards, and to prepare for the Rugby World Cup for players under 20 that is to take place in Georgia in June 2026.

The project envisages the renovation of administrative buildings and stands, repair and finishing work, as well as a complete rehabilitation of the locker rooms and restrooms at Kutaisi “Aiya” Stadium.

Within the rehabilitation of Avchala Rugby Complex in Tbilisi, the administrative and service areas are to be upgraded, restrooms are to be rehabilitated, stands and façades are to be repaired, lighting systems and the supporting infrastructure are to be improved as well.

Work on both rugby stadiums is scheduled to be completed in June of this year that will ensure the Rugby World Cup for players under 20 (U20) to be held at the upgraded stadiums and in a safe and comfortable environment for athletes, fans, and spectators.
