Telavi Receives 5 Buses out of 175 New Ones of Modern Standards Designated for Regions

 MDF of MRDI has delivered the first 5 buses of 8.5 m length and of EURO 5 Standards to Telavi City. These 5 buses are out of 175 ones, designated to be delivered to 6 cities within Municipal Transport Development Program.

The program undergoes execution with financial backing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and considers purchasing of 175 buses of modern standards at the cost of 18, 7 Million EUR in total for various Municipalities.

For municipal transport development purposes, there have been selected 6 cities throughout Georgia. Out of 175 buses per 10 ones will be delivered to Telavi and Poti, while Gori will receive 30 ones, 25 will be handed to Zugdidi, 40 buses to Rustavi and Kutaisi is to get 60 ones. 

The program will enable the cities to develop their municipal transport sector, and the population will use the modern, comfortable and what the most important is, environmentally friendly buses. The additional experts are to be trained in pubic transport field.

The new buses are designated for 50 passengers and are completely adapted for the people with disabilities.

Telavi had lacked the municipal transport up to this day, but now it is to shift into the new standard of development. Development of municipal transport will create the new workplaces as well.

Until spring 2021, 175 buses are to be delivered to various Municipalities on a stage-by-stage basis.

The routes and transport corridors of the new buses will  be defined by Municipalities.
