Infrastructural Projects at Gelati Monastery are underway

Tourism infrastructure arranging at Gelati Monastery and restoration-conservation works of Gelati Monastery are under implementation by Municipal Development Fund of Regional Development and Infrastructure Ministry of Georgia with the support of the World Bank and Georgian Government. Mr. Juansher Burchuladze, Executive Director of MDF, Mr. Davit Tabidze, Deputy Executive Director, MDF and Mr. Ahmed Eiweida, Sustainable Development Programs Coordinator in the South Caucasus, WB got familiarized with the progress of works, envisaged under the project. Supervision Company “Eptisa” conducted presentation at Gelati refectory in the process of which there were reviewed the issues with regard to progress of integrated infrastructural projects of cultural heritage monuments in Imereti region and future plans as well.
Regional Development Project aims at contributing to maintenance of cultural heritage monuments and render assistance to development of tourist infrastructure in Georgia. Basic beneficiaries of the project are locals, whose social conditions will be improved as a result of tourism development, along with the tourists visiting the region as they will familiarize themselves with cultural heritage monuments of Imereti region in improved conditions and consume proper infrastructure being in the vicinity of these monuments.

Tourist Infrastructure arranging at Ubisa Monastery in progress

Municipal Development Fund of Regional Development and Infrastructure Ministry of Georgia with the support of the World Bank and the Government of Georgia implement the tourist infrastructure arranging works at Ubisa Monastery in Imereti Region. Mr. Juansher Burchuladze, Executive Director of MDF, Davit Tabidze, Deputy Executive Director of MDF and Mr. Ahmed Eiweida, Sustainable Development Programs Coordinator of the WB in the South Caucasus visited the site to get familiarized with the progress of works stipulated under the project.

Water Supply Rehabilitation Works under Implementation in Telavi Municipality and Village Kurdghelauri

The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is implementing Telavi municipality and village Kurdghelauri water supply rehabilitation project. The works are funded by the European Investment Bank with co-financing from the Government of Georgia. Total project cost amounts to GEL 7,052,133. First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili and Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia, Juansher Burchuladze were visiting the project site.
1500 households residing in the village Kurdghelauri are supplied with water only once a week for one hour, though due to the considerably damaged network, it cannot be used as drinking water. Therefore, the local population extracts potable water from individually arranged wells. As a result of project implementation, the village Kurdghelauri inhabitants will have the water supply problem solved.

Construction of Tbilisi-Rustavi highway is in progress

Municipal Development Fund of Georgia is implementing construction of 17, 4 km Tbilisi Rustavi highway. After construction, travel time from Rustavi to Tbilisi will take 15 minutes and journey will become more safe and comfortable. Cost of the project is GEL 96 685 218.40. Today MDF executive director Juansher Burchuladze visited civil works who went into conversation with workers. Construction of the first and second sections of the highway was commenced on April 22, 2014. More than 300 workers are hired including locals.
Ground works on first section and construction of artificial structures on both direction have already been completed in particular culverts, asphalt concrete covering arrangement on both direction of the road is in progress. 3 km asphalt concrete covering has already been arranged on left direction and more than 3 km on right direction. Total 8 km asphalt concrete covering has to be arranged on both direction. Arrangement of two road bridges and one traffic center has been completed. Construction of two Road Bridge is in progress and will be finalized at the end of August.

World Bank’s financial support will be directed to economic and tourism potential growth of Mtsketa -Mtianeti and Samtskhe -Javakheti regions

On August 7th of the current year agreement on implementation of Regional development project III was signed between Minister of Finance of Georgia Nodar Khaduri, acting head of World Banks Georgian office Soso Melitauri and EBRD. Project will be implemented by JSC Municipal Development Fund of Georgia during 2015-2019. Today agreement was signed by MDF executive director Juansher Burchuladze and acting head of World Bank’s Georgian office Soso Melitauri.

Rehabilitation of the road in the village Shalauri

Municipal Development Fund at the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia implements road rehabilitation project in the village Shalauri in Telavi municipality. The First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Ilia Darchiashvili inspected ongoing works. Rehabilitation of 1 km long access road to the Shalauri wine cellar is being implemented within the frameworks of the private and public sector partnership, by financial support of the World Bank. In parallel with a road rehabilitation, new drainage network will be arranged.

Landfill cleaning recovery procedures are under implementation at village Vardisubani

By World Bank financing construction waste landfill cleaning- recovery works are implemented by Municipal Development fund of Georgia in village Vardisubani located at town Telavi entrance. Total cost of the works amounts to GEL1 580 210, 57. Existing landfill was harmful to local population health and threatened ecology. Adjacent territory was entirely polluted. Since recovery –cleaning of the landfill ecological threat will be totally eliminated. 25 workmen is hired on civil works. Mentioned works were visited by MDF executive director Juansher Burchuladze and first deputy minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Ilia Darchiashvili.

Signagi population will be provided with 24 hour water supply

By EIB financing Municipal Development Fund of Georgia in town Signagi implements water supply system rehabilitation. Cost of the project consists of GEL 1,342,388. As a result of project implementation Signagi population in particular more than 900 families will be provided with 24 hour water supply. Currently more than half of Signagi population about 600 families are provided with 2 hour water supply per 24 hour, and 300 families with 8 hour water supply per 24 hour. As a result of project implementation water quality will be improved and water loss will be reduced.

The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia is Implementing ‘Batonistsikhe’ Castle Rehabilitation Works

The Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is implementing rehabilitation works for Batonistsikhe ‘Castle’. The First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili together with the Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia, Juansher Burchuladze were visiting the project site. Concurrently with ‘Batonistsikhe’ rehabilitation, the MDF has already announced a bidding on ‘Batonistsikhe’ museum rehabilitation works. The Regional Development Project is backed by the World Bank and Government of Georgia and its cost amounts to GEL 1,573,000. The project is mainly aimed at preserving original appearance of the monument, besides the project is focused on development of cultural heritage circuits and tourism in Kakheti Region.

Construction of the 23-rd Metro Station has commenced in Tbilisi

Today the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia –LEPL of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has commenced construction of the“University“ metro station. Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Nodar Javakhishvili, Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia, Juansher Burchuladze, Mayor of the City Davit Narmania and representatives of the Asian Development Bank launched construction Works and briefed the public on the project. A new metro station from Vazha-Pshavela Avenue to the metro station “University” will be constructed under the project. Moreover, as a result of project implementation the second tunnel will become operational between Delisi and Vazha-Pshavela metro stations. The project implementing agency is the Municipal Development Fund, and it is funded by the Asian Development Bank, total project cost amounts to GEL 83,000,670.45. Construction works will be completed in a 24-month period following their commencement.
