Water Supply System Rehabilitation Works in Progress in Bolnisi Municipality

The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia -LEPL of the Minsitry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is implementing water supply system rehabilitation works in Bolnisi municipality, project is funded by the European Investment Bank and its cost exceeds GEL 4 million.   As a result of project implementation, Bolnisi population and namely about 10 thousand residents will benefit from a 18-24 hour water supply schedule, instead of the existing 10-hour one.  Besides, water quality will be improved.

 Today, the Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, and Director of the United Water Supply Company of Georgia, Vladimer Lazarishvili were visiting the project site together with the Governor of Kvemo Kartli, Paata Khizanishvili and local authorities.

Upon completion of rehabilitation works the facility will be transferred for operation to the  United Water Supply Company of Georgia of the Minsitry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.  

Under the project, two 500m3 capacity reservoirs and damaged covers will get replaced, service lines existing in this area will get fully reconstructed, and a new chlorination plant will be constructed.   Moreover, the project envisages metering of the existing apartment buildings (13 buildings) and rehabilitation of Tandzia-Bolnisi main pipeline. There are 25 persons employed under the project and majority of them are locals.

Civil works are under implementation by the successful bidder - building company “Java”. The project will be completed in 2016.
