The Asian Development Bank will Fund New Infrastructural Projects in Georgia

The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia – Mr. Davit Narmania and Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia – Mr. Elguja Khokrishvili met with management of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).  The discussion was concerning infrastructural projects already funded  and to be funded by the Bank. 

The Urban Project Expert of ADB – Mr. Bertrand Galois expressed his interest in priorities, which would be sorted out by the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia for further cooperation with the Bank.  The parties exchanged their opinions on Batumi shoreline protection works, which has to solve the problems the city has been facing for decades.  The Minister emphasized utmost significance of Tbilisi-Rustavi highway construction project and once again addressed the guests to speed up the final decision making process regarding the above.  

„This is one of the top priorities for us,“ – stated Mr. Narmania,- „The road is one of the most overloaded ones in Georgia, therefore, construction of a high standard highway there is of great importance to the Ministry.  We also  prioritize timely commencement of Batumi shoreline protection works, since the water is actively eroding the beach.   Our groups are working on new project proposals to the Asian Development  Bank. In this case, the main accents are placed on infrastructural improvements to the towns in the regions of Georgia.“
