January 29, 2015

The “Municipal Development Fund of Georgia” of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is implementing a large scale infrastructural project in Ozurgeti together with the “United Water Supply Company of Georgia”.   Today, the First Deputy Minister of  Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Giorgi Amashukeli was visiting the ongoing works, he was accompanied by representatives of the  “United Water Supply Company of Georgia”.

Under the project, a 30 km section of depreciated pipes will get replaced. Besides, the project also envisages rehabilitation of the pipeline coming out of the pump station and the water supply network of the central part of the city.
Currently, the existing depreciated water pipeline invokes frequent breakdowns of the city network, which results in increased water loss, instability of pressure and interruption of potable water supply.   Upon completion of project works  10.300 inhabitants of Ozurgeti will receive a high quality water with improved schedule.
The project backed by the EIB is under implementation by the “Municipal Development Fund of Georgia” and the “United Water Supply Company of Georgia” of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.  There are some 22 persons employed at the project site, majority of them are locals.
