Road pavement works on 3rd section of Tbilisi –Rustavi highway is finalized

Cement-concrete arrangement works are already finalized on Tbilisi-Rustavi highway 3rd section with length of 6.5 km. Today first deputy minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Giorgi Amashukeli, along with representatives of MDF and contractor Company visited implemented works. Currently safety works are being implemented and barriers and road signs are installing.

Construction of 2 traffic interchanges (bridge) and main works for 3 pedestrian bridges are already implemented. Two -way traffic on mentioned section will be available by the end of the month.

After project completion, trip from Tbilisi to Rustavi will take 15 minutes and conveyance will become the most safe and convenient. Within the framework of the project following will be implemented: construction of viaducts, interchanges, underground, vehicle and pedestrian bridges and arrangement of sidewalks.

After development of above mentioned infrastructure Tbilisi-Rustavi highway will entirely unload two -way traffic to this direction.

Estimated length of the design road is 17.4 kilometers. Considering complexity of the road alignment, the design road and respective design activities are divided into three following different sequences: First section – from the intercity bus terminal to the restaurant Marabda – 4km long.   

Second section – densely populated Ponichala area – with estimated length of 6.8 kilometers. At this section, construction of  completely new, approximately 2km long urban type detour road is planned along the river Mtkvari.   

Third section – Starts from the Ponichala Settlement exit up to Rutsavi Motor Vehicle Fair - 6,5 kilometer long.   

At the first stage, the first and third sections will be subjected to rehabilitation, cost of works amounts to GEL 88 761 128,95. There are  250 persons employed at the construction site, most of them locals.
