In Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Samtskhe-Javakheti large -scale infrastructural projects will be implemented

Within the framework of third regional development project in Mtskheta- Mtianeti and Samtskhe -Javakheti new infrastructural projects implementation is planned. Regarding commencement of the mentioned project MDF Executive Director Mr. Giorgi Amashukeli, First Deputy Director Ilia Darchiashvili and World Bank representatives held meeting with local government and governor in Mtskheta and Akhaltsikhe, on the meeting proposed projects were discussed. 

MDF will launch Regional Development Project III, estimated  cost of the project is USD 75 million. World Bank will allocated  60 million and 15 million will be allocated from the state budget. Commencement date for works is 2015 and works will be finalized in 2020. Project envisages:  urban, utilities and touring infrastructure rehabilitation, popularization of cultural heritage, historical monuments and to support private sector.

Implementation of mentioned project wills assists local population employment will improve social economic conditions and increase number of tourists. 

On the meeting held with local government representatives in Akhaltsikhe and Mtskheta preselected proposed subprojects were discussed.

Within the framework of project with consideration of local architecture urban recovery is planned, which includes rehabilitation of municipal infrastructure and utility services in central districts,   conservation and development of public spaces and cultural heritage buildings and facades. Touring routs development is also planned, which envisages urban landscape and parking area development, construction of information providing kiosks, cafes and public toilets.  

Within the framework of the project is planned infrastructure arrangement in order to attract private sector. MDF will support private sector representatives who will express interest to invest in construction of Mtskheta- Mtianeti and Samtskhe -Javakheti regions touring and food production facilities.

Meetings will be held until final decision, where final project will be agreed and list of objects to be rehabilitated will be revealed  within the framework of third regional development project.
