MDF Management Attended the Conference Dedicated to Discussion of the Form of Partnership between Public and Private Sectors

The MDF management was actively involved in the conference organized by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the World Bank dedicated to the partnership form between public and private sectors and its future prospects. The two-day conference held within the period of December 7-8 in Kobultei Hotel “Georgian Palace” was attended by the Executive Director of the Fund Mr. Elguja Khokrishvili and his Deputy Mr. Teimuraz Murgulia.   

The conference was targeted at improvement of services offered by the public sector and development of future plans for the above, as well as introduction of the successful practice of cooperation between public and private sectors.  Moreover, the conference was designated for stimulation of increase of the volume of private investments in sizeable infrastructural projects.

Participants of the conference on public and private partnership were enabled to consider the prospects of planning public-private sectors’ joint projects in the following main domains – infrastructure, energy, education, and public health care.

The conference, which was opened by the Minister  of  Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia – Mr. Giorgi Kvirikashvili was also attended by other representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers of Georgia. In particular, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia – Mr. Davit Narmania, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Affairs of Georgia – Mr. Davit Sergeenko, Minister of Finance of Georgia  - Mr. Nodar Khaduri, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia – Mr. Tamar Sanikidze  and authorities from various governmental agencies  were also present at the event.

The International Finance Corporation was taking active part in the conference as well.

By means of this conference, the Government of Georgia was aiming at promotion of cooperation between public and private sectors and definition of the future strategies.
