The MDF opened the rehabilitated apartment building for the IDP-s in Terjola

The Deputy Ministers of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia,   the Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia, Mr. Elguja Khokrishvili, the Acting Director of the USAID Mr. Roy Plucknett and representatives of the local Municipality  presented keys of apartments to 44 IDP families  in Terjola.

The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia has completed rehabilitation of another 44-apartment residential building for the IDP-s in Terjola under the Municipal Infrastructure and IDP Housing Rehabilitation Program. 

The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia has implemented rehabilitation of the former hospital building in Terjola, funded by the  USAID. Total cost of works amounts to GEL 1501395.27. Rehabilitation works for the present project were initiated in  2012 and completed this year. 44 apartments got rehabilitated under the present project. 13 of them are one-roomed, 22 – two-room and 9 – three-room flats; two apartments are fully adapted for disabled people.

During project implementation 50 persons were employed for construction works, 15 of them were IDP-s.

Each apartment has fully equipped individual bathroom and lavatory. The kitchens have water heating devices; there are KARMA type gas heaters installed in the apartments as well. There are playground, parking lot, outdoor lighting network and decorative luminaires arranged in the yard.

The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia is performing rehabilitation works for 10 apartment buildings in various municipalities countrywide, the project is targeted at IDP-s and is backed by the USAID.

Total amount allocated by the USAID for project implementation amounts to GEL 11,982,688.23.  As a result of project, 10 apartment buildings and 335 flats will get improved for the IDP-s.

Under the Municipal Infrastructure and IDP Housing Rehabilitation program, rehabilitation of ten buildings is completed.   The buildings rehabilitated under the above-mentioned program are already opened in Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Marneuli, Kareli and Vani. After the Terjola project, the rehabilitated 4 buildings will be opened in Zestaponi.
