Water Supply System Arrangement Project in Shida Kartli

Capture1Today the First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Mr. Tengiz Shergelashvili, the First Deputy State Minister in Reintegration Issues Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili and the Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia Mr. Elguja Khokrishvili were visiting the ongoing works for arrangement of water supply systems in the occupied territories’ adjacent villages in Patara Liakhvi Gorge.

In order to improve the potable water supply to the population, the drilling works for two additional wells are under implementation in Gori Municipality Villages – Zardiantkari, Didi Khrvaleti, Gugutaantkari, and Koshka.  The project was launched in accordance with the Decree of the Government of Georgia and it is being implemented by the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia. In all, the project envisages construction of four wells, which will result in solving of water supply problem for the four villages bordering the occupied territories. “This is a high quality potable water supply-oriented project, which will be a problem solution for each household of the village”- stated the    First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Mr. Tengiz Shergelashvili at the meeting with the population, “the locals were deprived of water for years, now the project implementation will cause actual improvement of the situation”. According to the design, the appropriate diameter metal rough tubes will be placed in the wells, water filters and the protective sanitary fencing will be arranged and the appropriate capacity pumps and control cabinets will be installed. Designed discharge of each well (volume of abstracted water) will be 1.2 l/sec.   „We have just completed survey of the needs of the local population and water was one of the top priorities among these needs. Thus, implementation of this project is of vital importance for the local residents” – noted the First Deputy State Minister in Reintegration Issues Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.

„The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia is constructing additional wells in four villages of Gori Municipality. Currently, the works are ongoing in two villages – Zardiantkari and Koshka, after completion of works, which is expected by the end of month, construction of the next two wells will be initiated.“ – declared the Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia Mr. Elguja Khokrishvili. According to the project, estimated cost of construction of the two wells is GEL 124,200. The works completion is expected in September of the current year.
