On 17th December, last year, construction of 25-km road in Khevsureti was blessed by Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness Ilia II, at Rustaveli Theatre. He applied to the society: “Khevsurians, don’t be afraid of hardships, Mokheves have seen even greater hardships. The main thing is that we should not accept the life in need. We should do everything to deal with the poverty. This road will be the way to deal with the poverty.”

Currently only 4 families live in Arkhoti and if the road is not constructed, these 4 families will leave this territory, located so close to the border with Ingushia and having strategical significance for Georgia. In the 30-ies of the past century about 80 families lived in Arkhoti. After road construction additional 33 families intend to return to Arkhoti.
