Baghdati Water Supply System Rehabilitation is Completed

The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia has completed rehabilitation works for Baghdati water supply system funded by the European Reconstruction and Development Bank (EIB-ს) under the Regional Development Project.  Total cost of the project amounts to GEL 670,088.79. The works were executed by the Georgian Company  ,,BELD INVEST“ LTD.  There were 80 people employed on site in course of project, 70% of them were representatives of the local population. The works were initiated in June, 2012 and were completed this year.


Under the project, on the Rudula head works of the Baghdati water pipeline, the raw water settler interior surface was treated with waterproofing material,  the chlorination plant building was installed, the filtration station was constructed, and the filters were installed, the clean water reinforced concrete reservoir was constructed, 2 metal 25 tone reservoirs were installed for filter washing and 1250 pieces of water meter units were installed.


Before project implementation, during the rains the water supply network used to get contaminated and the water supplied to Baghdati population was non-potable, after project completion the water network will no longer get contaminated during the rainy periods and 84% of Baghdati population and the inhabitants of the neighboring 5 villages – Tsablarakhevi, Dapeniki, Nergeti, Dimi and Pernasi    will be supplied with clean and chlorinated potable water.


Moreover, in the course of years, the Baghdati population and the inhabitants of the above-mentioned villages had limited water supply, as a result of rehabilitation works they will have a 20 hour water supply.
