The Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Implementing Construction-Rehabilitation Works for 166 Schools and 31 Kindergartens

Under the Educational Infrastructure Construction and Rehabilitation Program, the Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia undertook  the project  for construction of 66 schools and rehabilitation and energy-efficeincy component strengthening - for 100 schools. The Educational Infrastructure Program is backed by Government of Georgia and donors   (CEB and NEFCO). Total program cost is exceeding GEL 300 million.

Apart from construction of 66 schools, the Municipal Development Fund is also carrying out design-construction works for seven schools. Bidding is already announced for design-construction of the following schools:   Village Chkhikvta of Tetritskaro Municipality, Village Kere of Gori Municipality,  Village Machkhaani of Sighnaghi Municipality,   Village Sabirkendi of Marneuli Municipality,  and Village Chkhakouri of Chokhatauri Municipality. Besides, in July bidding is to be announced for design-construction of Khashuri Municipality Village Kindzata Public School.   There is also bidding announced under the program for rehabilitation of 8 schools in Guria Region and 5 schools – in Kakheti Region. 

The schools will be constructed with observance of international standards, and be fully adapted to needs of disabled people. There will be classrooms, WCs, sports grounds arranged in the buildings, yard area will be improved as well. Heating, water supply and wastewater systems will also be arranged under the named program.   

In addition to school construction and rehabilitation activities, the MDF is actively engaged in kindergarten construction and rehabilitation project.  Construction and rehabilitation of  31 kindergartens is already in progress, bidding for additional 25 kindergartens is to be announced in July.   Total estimated cost of kindergarten project amounts to GEL   75 million.

 

The MDF has been involved in Educational Infrastructure Construction and Rehabilitation Program since 2019.
