Animal Shelter Under Construction In Gurjaani Municipality

The Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia (MRDI) constructs the animal shelter in Gurjaani Municipality.  The project execution is funded from the Government of Georgia (GoG).

The Gurjaani Animal Shelter will be located over the enclosed site and will be equipped with the administrative and quarantine structures, veterinary clinic, laboratory, dog kennels and other required infrastructure. There is to operate also the “Call Center” for 24/7, via which the calling out will be made aimed at animal transporting. The functions of the shelter will include taking actions to either identify the patron of the animal or finding out the new one, holding of information campaigns along with the animal protecting organizations to be focused on taking care over animals.

 

The works progress was inspected on site by MDF Executive Director Griogi Shengelia and Gurjaani Majoritarian Deputy Davit Songhulashvili. Kakheti Region is facing the severe issue of great number of homeless animals. The risk of spreading diseases and epidemics in the Municipality is high, and cases of biting the human beings are also quite frequent. The project finalization will completely resolve the issue associated with the homeless animals that will provide safety and accommodation of animals at very good temporal shelter of modern type.
