MDF to restore Botanic Garden and Ekaterine Palace in Zugdidi

The infrastructure development program in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Region undergoes implementation by MDF of MRDI.

 

Within the referenced program number of infrastructural objects is scheduled to be developed in Zugdidi Municipality, inter alia rehabilitation of Zugdidi Botanic Garden and Ekaterine Dadiani Palace, construction of Zugdidi Library and Sports Complex.

 

Rehabilitation of Zugdidi Botanic Garden envisages rehabilitation of buildings and a fence on the site of the garden, and arrangement of water supply, irrigation, sewage and drainage systems. The artificial lake of the site is also to be water supplied. There will be arranged the walking paths and public WCs. The works were commenced at the beginning of 2018 and will be finalized by the end of 2019.

 

There is to be rehabilitated also Ekaterine Palace within that program. The Palace is distinguished by architectural-artistic, and historical memorial significance. There are exhibited the things owned by Dadianis, their inventory, antiquities and treasury, providing visualization of living environment of Dadianis that is of high significance from cultural heritage standpoint.

 

The garden and complex of palaces of Dadianis has been granted the cultural heritage monument status since 2006 while by Decree of the Government dated 2015, it was awarded the national significance category. In the process of rehabilitation, all exhibits preserved at the Museum will be removed to the safe place - “Nikoseuli Palace”, rehabilitated by Cartu Fund.

 

Implementation of infrastructural projects in Zugdidi Town will assist to number of tourists and holidaymakers in Zugdidi Town to be increased. There will be formed the favorable conditions for tourist potential to be developed even more.
