Construction of schools in Georgia begins in 2019

  The Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia (MRDI) conducted an Open Day pertaining to construction of schools and presented in advance the Biddings to be announced, to the Construction Companies.
 
 MDF is to commence construction of 27 schools in 22 Municipalities. The project implementation is funded by the Government of Georgia and its cost amounts to approximately GEL 68 million. 
 
 “We had been cooperating intensively with the Ministry of Education and construction biddings will be announced stage by stage in February. Design-construction biddings to some extent will also be announced. There have been prepared 27 projects for the bidding as of to date. The cost of investments makes up GEL 68 million in total and covers the whole country” – Executive Director of MDF Giorgi Shengelia declared. In attendance of the Open Day were Vice Premier, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Maya Tskitishvili, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Mikheil Batiashvili and Executive Director of MDF Giorgi Shengelia.
 
 The objective of MDF is the bidding procedures to be more transparent and effective and interested companies to be familiarized with the project prior to bidding announcement that will enable them to be prepared in a better manner and open and equal conditions to be provided against competitive environment.
 
 Along with 27 schools, for 2019-2020 MDF plans rehabilitation of 31 schools and enhancement of power efficiency component with financial support from the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) and Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO). By financing of the GoG it is planned also to be rehabilitated tens of schools, including rehabilitation of public schools of Zarzma and Mokhisi Villages of Adigeni Municipality.
