Rehabilitation of Historical District and Davit Kakabadze Gallery in Kutaisi to Commence

   The Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia (MRDI) is to commence implementation of large-scale infrastructural projects in Kutaisi. The referenced projects include rehabilitation of Kutaisi historical district (section of Rioni riverbank) and reconstruction-rehabilitation of Davit Kakabadze Fine Arts Gallery. Executive Director of MDF Giorgi Shengelia along with the State Representative-Governor to Imereti Shavlego Tabatadze and Kutaisi City Mayor Giorgi Chighvaria visited the structures located from “Red (Tsiteli) Bridge”  to “Chain (Jachvi) Bridge” and familiarized the local residents with the details of scheduled large scale project. 

 
   Rehabilitation of Kutaisi historical district envisages rehabilitation of residential houses dated 19th century and public structures located along Rioni riverbank. The project considers also arrangement of the pedestrian path from “Red Bridge”  to “Chain Bridge” on the side of Rioni River that is  to be connected to the residential and public facilities. MDF has scheduled also to reconstruct-rehabilitate Davit Kakabadze Fine Arts Gallery that was established in 1976. The Gallery was granted the status of cultural heritage monument of Georgia. There are up to 3000 exhibits consisting of paintings, samples of graphical, sculptural and applied arts at the Museum.
