The new cable-way to solve conveyance problem in bad weather conditions

The Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is implementing Kobi-Gudauri cable-way design-construction works.The project at the estimated cost of GEL 81 million  is backed by the Government of Georgia and it will be completed by year-end. Giorgi Shengelia, Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia together with Shalva Kereselidze, Governor of Mtskheta-Mtianeti was visiting the ongoing works’ site.

Kobi-Gudauri cable-way will have an approximate length of seven and half kilometers. Aside from the fact that skiers will be able to travel from Gudauri to Kobi, the problem of blocked road in bad weather and snowbound conditions will also be solved in Kazbegi and interested persons will be able to travel to Gudauri by means of the present cable-way.   Since the above-referred territory is situated on the northern slope of the mountain, it will be available for skiing till the end of spring. 
Implementation of Kobi-Gudauri cable-way project will contribute to tourist infrastructure development in the neighboring area, which will in turn generate local population employment opportunities.  
The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is implementing a number of important projects in Kazbegi, inter alia including rehabilitation of sports-school ongoing in village Stepantsminda construction of Gergeti Trinity Church access road, etc. Rehabilitation of Alexandre Kazbegi House-Museum is also planned in the near future.
