Water supply issue to be solved for 17 Villages near occupation line

Over 17 thousand people residing in the villages of Gori, Kaspi and Kareli Municipalities, being in the vicinity of the occupation line will not be facing the water supply issue any more.

The residents of 17 villages of the region had had the water supply issue since 2008. The headwork out of which the villages had been supplied with water, was found out to be within the occupied site. The construction works envisage arrangement of boreholes, tanks and a chlorinator in the villages. The project undergoes implementation by the Municipal Development Fund (MDF) with the support of the European Investment Bank (EIB) at the cost exceeding GEL 5,5 million.

Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Zurab Alavidze along with the representatives of local authorities visited the works being conducted on site.

There are employed 30 locals for the construction works. The project is to be finalized until the end of the current year that will solve the potable water issue for thousands of residents of 17 villages and their living conditions will be improved.
