March 22, 2017

The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia is implementing sewage headers’ rehabilitation works  in Telavi.  The project is backed by the World Bank and its cost amounts GEL 3 538 000.  The Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund, Gagi Buadze was visiting the project site.

The project envisages arrangement of 3 distributors: from Achinebuli settlement, central market street and Kurdghelauri, from where through sewage headers they will be connected to the main wastewater treatment plant of Telavi, which will be constructed in the near future. It will prevent the fecal masses from falling into the river, which will considerably improve sanitary conditions and mitigate adverse environmental impact.   Telavi population and tourists wll have the long-standing problem solved.

Rehabilitation of Telavi sewage headers commenced in December, 2016 and will be completed in December of 2017. There are 70 persons employed at the project site and majority of them are locals.
