Batumi Coast Protection and Coastline Arrangement

The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia has commenced the coast protection in Batumi City. Mr. Zurab Alavidze, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia and Mr. Zurab Pataradze, Head of Autonomous Republic of Adjara have conducted the site visit for progress of works.  The project aims at Batumi coastline to be protected from erosion and to be restored-widened, especially on the side of the airport and Adlia village section, being southward of Batumi City. 

Batumi Coast Protection project envisages arranging of approximately 2-km coast protection structure and coast restoration by means of special sand mixture. Aimed at boulevard connecting with the restored coast there will be arranged 12 pedestrian bridges at the length of 20 meters, whereas its width will make up 1, 5 m.  The project undergoes implementation with financial support of ADB. Dutch Company - STRUIJKI, identified as the winner of the Bidding, will execute the works. About 50 people will be employed at the site.
