Katskhi Monastery to meet the tourists with renewed infrastructure

Juansher Burchuladze, Executive Director of Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has conducted the site visit for restoration-preservation works of Katskhi Monastery in Chiatura Municipality. Along with the Monastery restoration, MDF is conducting also tourist infrastructure arranging works in the vicinity of the referenced site. The project execution is undergoing with the financial support of the WB within the Regional Development Program at the cost exceeding one million GEL.

In parallel with preservation works of the monument being in progress there will be built the tourist center to be equipped wholly with the required internal water supply, sewage and power systems as well as with the necessary furniture. There will be arranged the parking and access road to the Church, whereas external water supply and sewage systems will be rehabilitated,  open terrace - overviewing the site has already been arranged. The works for restoration of the (ancient) fence and restoration works for the Church Tower are completed, pavement is applied and arranging of 45 m length gabion on the vehicle road accessing Monastery is finalized, preparation works for asphalt casting are undergoing.

Rehabilitated Katskhi Monastery Complex will become the basis for attraction of more tourists what in its turn will assist to improvement of social-economic conditions of local inhabitants.
