Tourist Infrastructure Construction Works Ongoing in Dzveli Shuamta and Akhali Shuamta

Under the Regional Development Project, the Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is implementing the World Bank funded tourist infrastructure construction project in Dzveli and Akhali Shuamta adjacent area. Today, Juansher Burchuladze, the Executive Director of the MDF was visiting the project site.

 

Under the project, the following infrastructure is being arranged in the vicinity of cultural heritage monuments:  information centers, souvenir shops, toilets and monument access road. A common borehole was arranged for Dzveli and Akhali Shuamta. Works for arrangement of the 200 meter depth borehole and rehabilitation of the access road are already completed.   

 

The Regional Development Project aims at contributing to preservation of cultural heritage monuments   and development of tourist infrastructure in Georgia.  

 

As a result of project implementation, tourist infrastructure will be upgraded, which will create favorable conditions for tourism development in Kakheti Region.   

Moreover, project implementation will enhance social status of the local population   and increase number of visitors in Dzveli and Akhali Shuamta.   

There are about 60 persons employed at the project site and majority of them are locals.
