The MDF has Arranged 13 Sports Grounds and Installed Heaters for 185 Households in the IDP Settlements

 The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has arranged 3 sports grounds and 10 playing grounds for children in various municipalities countrywide; the project was funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Moreover, heating systems were installed for 185 IDP households. Total project cost amounts to GEL 1 356, 267, 24. In Khoni IDP Settlement, sports and playing grounds were inaugurated by the Minster of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia, First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia and Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia together with the representatives of the USAID Mission.   

Under the project, 3 sports grounds and 10 playing grounds were constructed in various municipalities of Georgia, these municipalities are as follows:  Zugdidi, Senaki, Poti,  Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Verkhvebi, and Akhalsopeli. The named project was launched in October of 2015 and was completed in February of current year.  The project was implemented by the Georgian company “Java” LTD.  There were 60 persons employed at the project site.  Majority of them were locals.  At the same time, heating systems were installed for 185 IDP households in various regions of Georgia.  There were some 25 persons employed on-site and most of them were locals.

In Khoni, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has conducted a closing ceremony of the $52 million Georgian Municipal Infrastructure and IDP Housing Rehabilitation ProgramWithin the last 5-year period, under the long-term IDP Housing Program funded by the USAID, the MDF has completed construction and rehabilitation of numerous sites.  Considerable improvement of living conditions of  40 000 IDP-s were right the result of such cooperation;   17 former hospitals  were adapted for fully equipped apartments; living conditions were enhanced in 22 IDP settlements located in different regions of Georgia;  sanitary infrastructure was constructed and rehabilitated in 10 IDP settlements   of Kartli and Mtskheta-Mtianeti Regions;  25 kilometer road section in total was subjected to rehabilitation in Mtskheta, Dusheti, Gori, Kareli, and Oni. Oni water supply headworks were constructed and a 32-kilometer irrigation canal underwent full rehabilitation in Shida Kartli.
