Monastery Complex Rehabilitation Works Ongoing in Davit Gareji

The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Nodar Javakhishvili together with his First Deputy Ilia Darchiashvili and Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia, Juansher Burchuladze were visiting the Davit-Gareji monastery rehabilitation works’ project site. The project under implementation by the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is backed by the World Bank and Government of Georgia. The project aims at contributing to preservation of cultural heritage monuments and assisting in development of tourist infrastructure in Georgia. 

The project envisages finishing and improvement works for the monk cell facades located in the monastery and arrangement of water supply, wastewater and power supply networks.  Visitors’ center and parking lot will be arranged as well. The project also provides for improvement of the monastery adjacent area.

Cost of works amounts to GEL 1 million; approximately 30 persons are employed at the project site.
