Landscaping on Makhata hill

Municipal Development Fund of Georgia carried out sapling planting of 2600 different species on Makhata hill. Today MDF executive director Juansher Burchuladze, deputy executive director Davit Tabidze and other members of the Fund took part in landscaping activities. This landscaping event commenced in February 2016 and will be completed by the end of March. At the first stage 2300 saplings were planted by MDF on Rustavi-Tbilisi road. Within the framework of landscaping event totally, 5500 saplings were planted on both locations.   Among  planted maple and oak there were  walnuts saplings which are included in red list.

Within the framework of landscaping event, among other plants 560 walnut and small elm saplings were planted which are also included in red list.  Planting of walnut, Eldar pine, Georgian oak, ash, cypress and poplar saplings are foreseen within the framework of  the action.  

Ltd “ International cooperation Synehydro” by MDF order implements sapling planting compensation works in compliance with Georgian legislation. Herewith company undertakes obligation to maintain planted saplings as for the oak and small elm which are included in red list company undertakes obligation to maintain during 5 years.  

It is noteworthy that on all three sections Tbilisi-Rustavi highway project  envisages adjacent territory landscaping and arrangement of recreation zones.  Tbilisi-Rustavi highway construction is implemented by MDF and its cost equals to GEL 96 685 218.40, project is financed by Asian Development Bank.
