Nikea street rehabilitation commencement in Kutaisi

MDF has started rehabilitation of Nikea Street in town Kutaisi. Commencement of the works were opened by first deputy minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Ilia Darchiashvili and MDF executive director Juansher Burchuladze. Project is financed by World Bank financial support and cost amounts to GEL 7 mln 200 thousand.

 

Road pavement of Nikea Street was damaged and amortized which caused permanent traffic jams. As a result of entire rehabilitation and renovation of the street traffic flow movement has significantly improved in town. Accordingly movement will become more safe and comfortable. 

 

It is noteworthy that in Kutaisi Nikea Street is the biggest, currently part of this street with length of 2 km and 200 m is under rehabilitation. Rehabilitation of the second part of the street is being performed by Road Department of Georgia.

 

Nike is three line street, width of each direction is 11 m. Within the framework of rehabilitation two-layered asphalt concrete cover will be arranged, between carriageways limiting dividing line of precast r/c parapets will be arranged. Dividing line will be decorated will greenery and sidewalks will be arranged on both sides of the street.    

Meanwhile external lighting system is under installation and new drainage system will be arranged.
