Tourist infrastructure arrangement commenced in New Shaumta, Old Shuamta and in Ikalto

Regional Development Fund of Georgia by World Bank financing  implements tourist infrastructure arrangement adjacent to cultural heritage monuments in Kakheiti region in particular Old shuamta, New Shuamta and in Ikalto. Mentioned project is implemented within the framework of regional development project and cost amounts GEL 1 mln 637 thousand. Regional development project aims to support tourist infrastructure development in Georgia and to contribute to maintain cultural heritage monuments. Today MDF executive director Juansher Burchuladze visited rehabilitation works.  

 

Information centers, souvenir shops, toilets and accesses road  will be arranged adjacent to  all three cultural heritage monuments. Borehole will be arranged in Old and New Shuamta as well. Currently 200 m borehole installation and access road rehabilitation is in progress.  More than 20 workman is hired on works most of them locals. 

 

As a result of project implementation tourist infrastructure will be arranged  which will create favorable conditions for tourism development in Kakheti region. In addition project implementation will improve social conditions of local population and will increase tourist flow in Old and New Shuamta and in Ikalto.
