Bodbe -Bodbiskhevi connecting road with length of 5 km is opened

Municipal Development Fund of Georgia has finalized rehabilitation of Bodbe-Bodbiskhevi connecting road with length of 5 km in Signagi municipality. Project was implemented by World Bank financial support with cost of  GEL 2 831 384,37. Today rehabilitated road which connects 6 villages to borough Tsnori was opened by minister of Infrastructure and Regional development of Georgia Nodar Javakhishvili, first deputy minister Ilia Darchiashvili, MDF executive director Juansher Burchuladze and local government representatives.

Existing road was entirely amortized and during 30 years has not been rehabilitated. Besides connecting 6 villages to borough Tsnori and Signagi rehabilitated road is also the shortest road connecting to capital city.

As a result of mentioned road rehabilitation movement for 6 village population will become more safe and comfortable. It will ease movement to borough Tsnori which is the trade center of the region and connection to town Signagi which is the main touring center will be also facilitated.

Before rehabilitation road was entirely amortized, which hindered safe transport and pedestrian movement. Project has positive long term social impact for local population in particular: improvement of living and transport conditions, new road will reduce existing negative impact such as dust, noise, vibration, emission. By rehabilitated road journey time will be reduce from 35 min to 20 min.  

Within the framework of the project following was implemented: Removal of existing asphalt concrete pavement fragments; cleaning of road shoulders from sediments; dismantling of existing damaged pipes at yard entrances; arrangement of artificial structures; arrangement of culverts and metal pipes; arrangement of road pavement. Approximately 80 persons were hired on works.
