32 Buildings of IDP Families Rehabilitated in Poti

In Poti municipality IDP settlement area, 32 residential buildings have been rehabilitated. External hydro and thermal insulation works carried out by MDF were financed by the government of Georgia.

Today, Mr. Sozar Subar, Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia, Executive Director of MDF Ilia Darchiashvili and Poty Mayor Mr. Irakli Kakulia visited the rehabilitated buildings and talked with the local population.

At the request of the Municipal Development Fund, the Government of Georgia has allocated GEL 2,382657.3, for rehabilitation of 32 buildings to solve the problems faced by 1168 families related to the poor quality houses built during the previous government. The walls of the buildings were constantly wet, and foundation was inundated that created unbearable living conditions for the residents. Water in foundation posed risk of collapse for entire building.

As a result of rehabilitation works, the abovementioned problem has been entirely eliminated. External hydro and thermal insulation works in 32 new buildings intended for IDPs began in last November and ended in April this year. After the completion of the project activities, all the problems have been resolved for 1168 IDP households. 135 persons were engaged in construction works, including 65 local. Rehabilitation works were carried out by Georgian company JAVA ltd.
