Population will be provided with 24 hour water supply as a result of Gurjaani water supply system rehabilitation

Gurjaani water supply system rehabilitation is implemented by MDF the project is financed by EIB and total cost of the works consists of GEL 3 277 824,94. Today MDF executive director Ilia Darchiashvili along with local government representatives visited water supply system works. 45 workmen are hired on civil works; as a result of the project implementation Gurjaani population will be provided with 24 hour water supply. Project is coordinated by MDF and United Water Company of Georgia. Gurjaani water supply system rehabilitation if financed by UN and EIB.

Within the scope of project replacement of existing pressures pipe with length of 14.65 km is envisaged. Existing pipes were damaged which resulted 30%/40% water loss, accordingly it is impossible to provide population with 24 hour water supply but since rehabilitation is finalized existing problem will be totally eliminated.  

Through mentioned new pipeline drinking water flows into two reservoirs with capacity of  7000 cb located in town Gurjaani, from where water  is distributed to population. Water loss will be reduced to minimum after pipeline replacement, within the scope of the works different diameters 3 km pipes will be also changed in Gurjaani streets.

Rehabilitation of Gurjaani water supply system commenced in 2014 and works will be finalized  by the end of 2015.
