MDF will cut the new auto road in Arkhoti with length 25 – kilometer. The road will connect both – Northern (“thither”) and Southern (“hither”) Khevsureti to each other. Construction will begin in spring 2014. So far there’s only walking path here, and the locals who have left this region because lack of the road, can’t access theirs homes. Already 32 families have expressed their readiness to return the home after finishing road construction.

Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure will continue to support internally displaced persons in 2014 and plan to spend 50 million GEL.

A regular session of the inter-agency commission addressing homeless-related problems was held in the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia. The session was attended by the Deputy Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia Teimuraz Murgulia.

2013 was a year of challenges for the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure. We had to re-examine various projects and forward more than 10 cases to the law enforcement bodies. Today, the Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia, Mr. Davit Darakhvelidze and his Deputy, Mr. Mamuka Tsotniashvili, the First Deputy Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia, Mr. Teimuraz Murgulia, and the Director of the USAID Mr. Steven Heiken presented keys of apartments to 134 IDP families in Zestaponi.

Georgia and Asian Development Bank (ADB) have entered into agreements on financing sizeable infrastructural projects for the benefit of Georgia. These agreements were signed by the Minister of Finance, Nodar Khaduri, Director General, Central and West Asia Department (CWRD) of ADB, Klaus Gerhaeusser, Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia, Elguja Khokrishvili and Director of the United Water Supply Company of Georgia, Archil Tsabutashvili.

Today, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Mr. David Narmania and the Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia met Mr. Klaus Gerhaeusser, Director General, Central and West Asia Department (CWRD) of ADB.

Water supply system improvement works will start in conflict zone bordering 9 villages of Shida Kartli. The project cot for civil works amounts to GEL 1 115 000.00. The works will be implemented by the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia, and will be funded from its own budget.
